Continental Airlines tapping into South American market

Continental Airlines launched continental.com in Portuguese for Brazil and Portugal.

Continental Airlines launched continental.com in Portuguese for Brazil and Portugal. “Brazil’s economy is the most important economy in South America and it is expanding its presence in world markets. As the second-largest airline to Latin America in passengers and destinations served, Continental is pleased to offer increased web site access to Portuguese-speaking customers,” said Kevin McKenna, managing director, brand marketing at Continental Airlines.

Key Portuguese-language functions at Continental’s web site include shopping for flights, making and changing reservations, checking flight and gate information, and accessing several functions related to OnePass, Continental’s award-winning frequent-flyer program. Continental’s specialized service for Portuguese-speaking passengers includes bilingual flight attendants and Portuguese-language entertainment on board flights to Brazil and Portugal. Passengers in the US may make reservations in Portuguese at 1-800-323-5359.

The airline currently operates daily nonstop service between Continental’s New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport and between Houston and São Paulo, with continuing service to Rio de Janeiro. Starting August 1, 2009, Continental will launch daily nonstop flights between its Houston hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and through flight service between New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro.
