KUALA LUMPUR – The Tourism Ministry will carry out training to enhance the command of foreign language among tourist guides starting next month.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the training would be divided into two sectors, namely for unemployed graduates and existing tourist guides.

“We have secured a RM3 million fund from the Human Resources Ministry to implement this programme,” she told reporters after a visit to Petaling Street here today.

Among the foreign languages chosen for the programme are German, Russian, Arabic and French, she said.

Dr Ng, who spent two hours at the bustling street, said she was happy to note the presence of many tourists in the area including those coming from Oman, Kuwait, Australia, the United States and the Netherlands.
