Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities trains tour guides

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) conducted a week-long training course titled “Tourist Guide Skills” to develop the skills of tourist guides.

The course emphasized the application of standards contained in the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).

Fourteen accredited tourist guides participated in the training course and had on-field training at the National Museum and Al Masmak Palace, as well as several other locations in the Saudi capital. The training course also included tourist guide skills during foot tours, museums, and tourist bus trips.

Abdul Rahman Al Jassas, Executive Director of Riyadh PTO, stated that the week-long training course provided a clear picture for understanding the tourist guide’s profession, including dealing with search tools and their usage through developing surveillance techniques, practical skills of tourism guidance in buses, through museums and tourism sites, in addition to developing and upgrading communication, speech and interpretation skills, developing leadership and interaction skills with groups, and developing reporting and evaluation skills.
