Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, the Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, led the official tourism delegation for the first Air Seychelles inaugural flight to Chennai India. The delegation included Mrs. Mryna Michel, the Tourism Board’s Director – Asia & Australasia; Ms. Jessica Giroux, Sales Manager at Mason’s Travel; Mr. Eric Renard, Sales Manager at Creole Travel Services; Mr. Shirish Dhanjee, Managing Director of Vision Voyages; and representatives of the local business community. Captain David Savy, the Executive Chairman of Air Seychelles, personally led the Air Seychelles delegation.
The Air Seychelles launch party, which took place on Tuesday, November 16 at the Vivanta-Taj Connemara Hotel in Chennai, kicked off with a press conference. Members of press included the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, journalists from several newspaper publications such as the Times of India, new Indian Express of Chennai, Hindustan Times, and other leading daily newspapers from Chennai.
The press conference was followed by a workshop targeted at the trade with the participation of various tour operators located across India. The workshop saw presentations from Air Seychelles and the Seychelles Destination Management Companies who were present. The evening function started with a cocktail party in the presence of HE Mr. Dick Esparon, Seychelles High Commissioner to India; the Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Chennai, MS Sai; and the Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Kolkata, Mr.Nandu Belani; as well as the Seychelles Tourism Ambassador in India, Mr. Hemant Jivan.
Presentations and speeches were made by the Executive Director of Global Aviation, (Air Seychelles GSA-India); the Executive Chairman of Air Seychelles, Captain David Savy; Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, the Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; and Mrs. Myrna Michel, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director – Asia & Australasia who is based in Singapore.
The Seychelles Tourism Board’s main focus of promoting the destination was explained, as well as the role and activities initiated by Mrs. Myrna Michel in the Seychelles Office in Singapore. Guests at the Air Seychelles inaugural flight to Chennai India were then invited to a sumptuous dinner, while local artist, Ron Payet, and dancers from the Tanmi group animated the evening with local dance performances with the participation of the crowd.
