The Distressed Hotel Summit is being launched by Hotel & Motel Management magaine for hospitality industry professionals to be held October 12-13, 2009 in Washington DC.

“We’ve seen the hospitality industry struggle with economic uncertainty and downturns in 2009, leading to distressed properties and assets that need to handled and managed appropriately,” says Stacy Silver, executive director of Digital Media, HotelWorld Network. “The new Distressed Hotel Summit will bring together all the special servicers, lawyers, management companies, lenders, owners, and buyers who have a stake in these hotels and give them the information they need to move forward.”

Scheduled to be held at the Sheraton Crystal City, the summit kicks off with an opening general session discussing an overview of the market followed by a panel led by hospitality professionals entitled “View from the Top.” An evening meet-and-greet reception will close the first day and allow attendees to network among themselves and sponsors. The second day will include a comprehensive combination of break-out topics and general sessions along with exhibit hours to meet with the sponsors of the event. Topics to be covered include foreclosures/distressed hotels and what options may be available, management agreements, financing strategies, and updates, as well as franchise issues including re-negotiations, contracts, and the cancellations of flags.

“The Distressed Hotel Summit is a great opportunity to get everyone involved in distressed hotels and assets in one room to educate them on all the ins and outs of the process. It also allows attendees the chance to make connections that will go beyond the event and translate into valuable business relationships,” stated Matt Waddell, publisher, HotelWorld Network. “Our mission is to serve the hotel investment community by addressing the enormous potential available involving distressed hotels especially as the economy starts its upswing.”
