From August 27 to 29, the City of Helen, Georgia will host the Georgia State Harley Owners Group (aka HOG) rally. The event will blend the Bavarian-inspired hospitality of Helen with the spending power of Harley-Davidson owners. In previous years, the Georgia state rally averaged over 1,000 registered motorcycle riders and passengers in attendance over the three-day event.

The Helen area boasts some of the best motorcycle riding in the southeast and will be a large draw to attracting responsible Harleyโ€“Davidson owners to the event. Surrounding areas such as Amicalola Falls, Dahlonega, Suches, Blood Mountain, and the Georgia Dragon offer the motorcycle rider beautiful scenery, roads for all skill levels, and interesting places to visit and learn about Georgiaโ€™s culture and history.

Helen, the host city, offers a taste of Bavaria in north Georgia – from the architecture, festivals, and the many different restaurants and taverns. Each establishment offers German-inspired and other styles of culinary delight at all price levels. In addition to fine eating and drinking, Helen also boasts hundreds of specialized boutiques and stores for shopping and plenty of outdoor events and activities for the non-riding hours of the day.

The rally coordination staff has planned three days of fun-filled events for rally attendees. Some of the highlights include plenty of guided and non-guided rides, safety and educational seminars, two concert evenings featuring local bands, a ride-in bike show, and bike games for contestants to showcase their motorcycling skills.

The Georgia State HOG Rally is expected to attract over 1,000 Harleyโ€“Davidson Motorcycle riders to the Helen area who, according to the official Harley-Davidson Motor Company website, are an average age of 47 years old and have a median household income of US$88,000 per year. This group will contribute approximately US$600,000 +/- to the local Helen economy over the three-day event in August.

Founded in 1983, the Harley Owners Group is the largest company-sponsored riding group in the world with over 1 million members. The family-friendly organization gives Harley-Davidson owners the opportunity to enjoy their motorcycles through national and state rallies and other organized events. The mission of HOG is to “Ride and Have Fun.”
