Seychelles salutes birth of Kenyan Second Republic


VICTORIA, Mahe – The Minister of Foreign Affairs has said that the Seychellois people are proud to congratulate their Kenyan neighbors and offer them full support as they work to maximize the potential of their country, following the promulgation of the new constitution in a colorful ceremony held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, on Friday.

“Seychelles congratulates the Kenyan government and the Kenyan people on having reached a milestone for the promotion of good governance in the East African region. There is a sense of momentum in Kenya, which will translate into great momentum for our region. We are proud to have been able to stand with them at this moment of great joy and celebration,” Minister Adam stated.
The event was attended by four regional heads of state, as well as numerous ministers and officials representing neighboring states.

Minister Adam was attending the event as the special representative of President James Michel and conveyed the congratulations of the Seychellois government to HE Mr. Mwai Kibaki, President of the Republic of Kenya, as well as HE Mr. Raila Odinga, the Prime Minister.

Speaking from Swaziland where the Minister is attending the COMESA Council of Minister for Peace and Security, the Minister also highlighted that this historic event also opens many new doors for cooperation in the COMESA region.
