Charlestowne Hotels, a full-service hospitality management company, proudly opens the Fairlane Hotel, a luxe 81-room boutique hotel in downtown Nashville’s Capitol and Arts District. The Fairlane Hotel offers a mid-century architectural design, distinctive retro-modern setting, and myriad of inspired food and beverage offerings. Devised and developed in partnership with Oliver Hospitality, this project showcases Charlestowne’s skill for seamlessly integrating multiple facets of operations and branding into hotel management.
“Appealing to our robust management approach, a boutique hotel with definitive character and exciting food and beverage encourages us to pursue creative guest services and compelling programming,” said Charlestowne Hotels President and COO Michael Tall. “Nashville’s hospitality scene is growing rapidly, and we know the Fairlane Hotel will be one of the city’s most desirable destinations.”
The Charlestowne Hotels team was instrumental in the development of the Fairlane Hotel, providing operational expertise and a hotel management framework that would complement the Oliver Hospitality team’s vision. Prior to opening, Charlestowne focused its efforts on creating a comprehensive revenue optimization strategy, launching a custom website and CRM platform, developing a brand narrative with marketing and PR guidance, engaging local community and industry leaders, and hiring a dynamic in-house staff. During this time Charlestowne also worked to ensure operational success through their oversight of pre-opening budgeting and overall programming for Rooms and Food & Beverage. Charlestowne will now shift to oversee day-to-day operations at the Fairlane Hotel with the tailored, hands-on focus the company is known for.
Once the Nashville headquarters to the now defunct Fidelity Federal Savings & Loan, the Fairlane Hotel was inspired by the preeminent international style of the nearly 50-year-old building’s original architecture. Today, the interior features creatively modernized design elements of the 1960’s and 70’s: terrazzo flooring, original wood paneling and travertine columns, brass elements, and a green, brown, and crème color palette. Floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive city views and semi-transparent peekaboo showers crafted from custom walnut paneling give guestrooms a playful air of drama that will surely keep a rapt audience. A destination in itself, the 4,000-square foot Penthouse will be Nashville’s premier private events space, while business travelers will also have access to two dedicated meeting spots—the Business Room and Big Business Room.
Spanning three distinct outlets, the hotel’s food and beverage components will be a crucial focus for the Charlestowne Hotels team as a key revenue driver and differentiator for the property. A buzzing lobby is anchored by Union Teller Coffee Counter—where guests and locals can start their day with freshly-brewed Stumptown coffee and light bites—and Mile End Delicatessen, a Montreal-style (by way of Brooklyn) delicatessen and bar. Ellington’s Mid Way Bar and Grill, the fourth-floor terrace restaurant, is the prime location for Nashville insiders to enjoy leisurely lunches, happy hours, and casual dinners.
Playful, engaging programming echoes the hotel’s character, an aspect of many Charlestowne managed properties. Every day at 5:00 p.m., the Fairlane at Five signals the end of the workday as the resident ‘Governor’ circulates the lobby with a vintage bar cart serving local spirits and bottled Coca Cola. Guests can enhance their stay experience with one of several creative add-on packages, such as a tour of Nashville’s best hot chicken spots. For some elevated fun, the Fairlane Hotel offers guests induction into Nashville’s version of the Mile High Club: a Penthouse party featuring a private in-room band or DJ, security detail, and 3:00 a.m. “breakfast” delivery.
“The Fairlane Hotel is one of the most comprehensive projects we’ve worked on and we are excited to see it brought to life for guests and locals,” said Ethan Orley, principal at Oliver Hospitality. “Our partnership with Charlestowne Hotels enables us to focus on executing our concept to the highest degree, knowing the day-to-day management intricacies are being handled by a pedigreed team.”
