India’s Civil Aviation Minister resigns abruptly

In a sudden development, India’s Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has resigned, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will oversee the ministry, effective immediately.

Raju quit, as his party, the TDP, decided to withdraw its two ministers from the government of Nanemdra Modi.The party will continue to be part of th BJP-led coalition.

The discord between the Modi government and the Andhra Pradesh government of Chandrababu Naidu is said to be over the grant of special status to the southern State by the Central government.

Raju was one of the two TDP ministers in the Modi government.
