One woman was killed and 12 people were injured by a knife-wielding attacker at a shopping mall in downtown Beijing.
Beijing police said they had arrested a man over the early afternoon attack at the Joy City Mall – the biggest mall in the Xidan area of the Chinese capital.
Three men and 10 women were sent to hospital after the attack and one woman died of her injuries, police said. The others were all expected to recover.
The man said he attacked people “to express his discontent”, police said, adding that the man’s surname is Zhu.
