All aboard! India embarks on social media tourism promotion


India has embarked on using social media for its tourism promotion. As part of this, 60 bloggers from 23 countries are traveling in luxury trains to different parts of the country.

The first batch of 15 bloggers boarded the Palace on Wheels on February 7 for a week-long experience of Rajasthan and of the train itself. The Palace On Wheels offers an enchanting royal journey through the bygone era of the former Maharajas. The bloggers will enjoy staying in luxurious cabins, with wall-to-wall carpeting, in a train that includes a well-stocked bar, two dining cars, and very personalized service.

Bloggers are getting much attention these days, and India policymakers do not want to be left out of the social media means to reach travelers and tourists.
