14 passengers injured as ceiling collapses at Tbilisi subway station

The ceiling caved in at the Varketili Metro Station in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Tuesday morning.

Some 14 people were injured, according to Agenda website. The injured are being take away from the area, one of them being a patrol police officer, and are being transferred to the Ingorokva Medical Clinic.

The criminalists are awaited to arrive to Varketili Metro station for the examination, as an investigation will be launched.

The station was renovated last year.

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze was quoted as saying that the company responsible for the repair works will be punished.
