The Dylan Hotel is a 5-star boutique hotel in the center of Amsterdam situated in a 17th century canal house within the prestigious Keizersgracht.
Green Globe certified for the first time, The Dylan has worked diligently with their Green Team to create ecological and social awareness across the organization. The Green Team gathers inspiration from all the green initiatives they have taken on-board and are constantly on the lookout for other possibilities. This enthusiasm has trickled down to all hotel colleagues, who regularly bring up ideas to become more sustainable.
One of the green initiatives that hotel colleagues have become particularly fond of is The Ocean Clean-Up. Ocean surrounds the Netherlands and hotel colleagues are moved to be part of caring for this major environmental attribute and sponsor the clean up on a monthly basis.
Being located in a monumental building on the Amsterdam Canals, The Dylan also takes pride in being part of Amsterdam’s cultural heritage. One of the key activities contributing to Green Globe certification is the restoration work, which is bringing the building back to its original state, whilst keeping modern environmental management in mind.
In 1632 the architect Jacob van Campen was commissioned to build a stone theatre on the site. The theatre was completely destroyed however, when a fire brought out during a theatrical performance and the building was burnt down. In 1998 the structure was completely renovated and in 1999 reopened as a luxury boutique hotel. To honor its heritage, the Dylan organizes events including plays for both locals and guests to come and enjoy.
The Dylan Hotel is recognized for its contemporary-meets-classic design, its dedicated service, and a beloved location for those who appreciate quality. The hotel is located in the cultural hub within easy walking distance of the Hermitage, the Anne Frank House, Flower Market and the Van Gogh museum. The area offers a great overview of the architectural style of Amsterdam heritage.
