The Normandy region was the worst hit by the storm

Around 200,000 homes in northern France have lost power due to winter storm Eleanor, according to Enedis, the French power-grid company.

The Normandy region was the worst hit by the storm, the company said, adding that Paris and northeastern Picardie and Champagne-Ardenne were also among those badly affected.

Eleanor is set to move to other regions throughout the day, including Corsica, where gusts could reach 200km/h.
