New Tourism Minister of Jammu and Kashmir extends family legacy

Tassaduq Mufti, the brother of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who held the Jammu and Kashmir tourism portfolio until now, has been sworn in as the new Tourism Minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state.

Governor N.N. Vohra administered the oath of office today to Tassaduq Mufti, swearing him in as a cabinet minister.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti named her younger brother, Tassaduq, to this key tourism position. The Chief Minister is President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party.

Tassaduq and Mehbooba are children of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, serving twice from November 2002 to November 2005 and gain from March 2015 to January 2016 as the Chief Minister. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed in New Delhi, India, on January 7, 2016, survived by his other two children Rubaiyya Sayeed and Mehmooda Sayeed.

Tassaduq Mufti, 45, is a trained cinematographer, who earned critical acclaim for his camera work in the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial.

Tourism is one of the most important activities in the state, which borders Pakistan, and has several attractions for travelers visiting the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
