Under the slogan, “Tourism for All – Partnership for sustainable development,” The Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Market 2009 (STTIM) was launched on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Hall at Al Faisaliah hotel, Riyadh. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), is organizing this annual event under the supervision of HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of SCTAp representing an important international occasion for featuring tourism investment opportunities in the kingdom.

In the press conferencek HRH Prince Sultan stated: “This is a platform for exchanging opinions on key issues related to tourism and the travel industry, including investments in the sector.” HRH added: “The tourism industry globally would recover and be stronger than many other sectors despite global recession. In the kingdom, all our tourism projects and initiatives have been launched and are operational.”

During the 5-day market, 29 speakers will address several issues related to tourism investment in four major sessions, in addition to reviewing major international experiences in the field of hotels, travel, tourism, tourism investment initiatives and programs, tourism destinations investment, as well as exhibitions, conferences, and media tourism.

In addition, several events are held on the margin of the market, such as an exhibition with the participation of a great number of companies and other authorities that are involved in the field of travel and tourism investment; heritage events, which includes craftsmen at work who will be displaying and selling their products; and folkloric performances in Al-Mou’tasem street.

STTIM is representing one of the important annual initiatives that are provided by SCTA for enhancing and serving tourism industry development in the kingdom. Also it represents an important international occasion for offering tourism investment opportunities in the kingdom, besides being an important tourism forum of exhibitions in the region for tourism industry and investment. The forum, on the other hand, provides a medium for tourism and travel industry leader gatherings, as well as brining out the kingdom’s potentials and various investment opportunities in the field of tourism.
