Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa welcomes new general manager Morten Junior to oversee operations at the unique resort, which resides an hour south of Krabi along the Andaman coast’s most scenic untouched shores.
Following medical school in Switzerland and art school in South Africa, Morten attended Copenhagen Business College before joining InterContinental Hotel for three years. Between 1990 and 1998, Morten progressed from a humble hotel trainee with InterContinental Hotel, Frankfurt, Germany, to front office and service manager roles in Denmark for Radisson and Best Western hotels.
Middle East experience commenced with a sales manager position including revenue management and profitability at Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort, Dubai, with the wider benefit of working for a member of Leading Hotels of the World and Concorde Hotels. A career jump to resort manager followed at Kuredu Island Resort in the Maldives where Morten was in charge of all operations for the property. He also helped to design and oversee major renovations with the successful reopening resulting in the resort being one of the most successful properties in the Maldives. Indeed Morten’s renovation expertise was put to good use during his year at One&Only Kanuhura, Maldives, between April 2004 and March 2005, where as resort manager his duties included another successful renovation project.
Morten went on to join InterContinental Hotel Group in his most recent role as GM of the Holiday Inn Resort Batam, Indonesia.
A keen environmentalist, Morton has been responsible for developing and implementing green hotel policies and initiatives to protect and preserve the environment.
Dillip Rajakarier, chief operating officer of Minor Hotel Group, owners of Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas, commented, “With a strong focus on achieving maximum returns for owners while striving to set new levels of service and customer satisfaction, Morten has accrued formidable accomplishments in diverse locations. Under his leadership we are confident that Anantara Si Kao will grow from strength to strength.”
Danish born Morten, who is also fluent in English and German, is married with two children.
