The inaugural flight of Porter Airlines’ newest route touched down today, September 21, at Saint John Airport.

Porter is now the only airline serving Ottawa from Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton with nonstop flights. The service continues through to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

“We’re pleased to welcome Porter Airlines to our family of providers,” said Saint John Airport President and CEO Derrick Stanford. “The continued growth and enhancement of the services we offer allow YSJ to cater to the needs and preferences of our community, as well as the more than 250,000 passengers who travel through our airport every year.”

The daily flight is operated with a modern 74-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft. Porter offers a premium passenger experience with leather seats and complimentary wine and beer onboard. Those flying to Toronto will benefit from landing in the heart of downtown at Toronto City Airport.

“We continue to grow our Atlantic Canada markets and Saint John is a welcome addition,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO, Porter Airlines. “We now serve New Brunswick’s three major cities and passengers across the province will benefit from more options and competitive fares.”

“Saint John (YSJ) is a new nonstop destination for YOW and I can’t think of a better airline to serve it,” said Mark Laroche, president and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority. “As Porter’s first destination, their success at YOW speaks to their ongoing commitment to connect the National Capital Region to multiple points in their growing network.”
