There is a lot of positivity and hope in Los Angeles tourism circles for boosting travel from India to the the American City of Angels.

There are several reasons for this. Ashlee Ciora, Senior Director of Tourism for the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, explained during her recent tour of India that with 125,000 visitors in 2017 expected, representing an 8 percent growth, the figures will only increase as the build-up for the 2028 Olympics gets going. New stadia and other facilities will also provide more jobs, and the expected direct flight from India will add to connectivity. A new metro line has helped tourists reach their destinations quickly.

She revealed that LA is the only place in the US with a dedicated VIP private terminal for celebrities and others. Beach activities are also gaining popularity with Indian traffic as well. The young are exploring adventure activities, she said, adding that beginning January 2018 an agents’ training program will be launched.

Ciora works directly with LA Tourism’s regional and representation offices overseeing strategy and programming for key international markets including Brazil, Canada, Europe, India, Mexico, the Middle East, and the United States. Ashlee is also responsible for luxury initiatives, implementing a new online training program and maintaining relationships with airlines serving LAX from international markets.
