Houston Bush International Airport is the gateway to Texas and beyond for major and not so major airlines from around the globe and for United Airlines.

Houston Hobby Airport is a domestic hub and home of Southwest Airlines and is closed.

Roads leading to the airports are closed, runways are flooded.
According to tweets issued by FAA and both airports, the reopening is planned for Wednesday , 8 am.

The Tweet for Houston Bush reads: “All commercial flight operations have been stopped until further notice. IB/OB roads are closed due to flooding.”

Houston Hobby tweets: All commercial operations at Hobby Airport have ceased until further notice. No flights in/out and roadways in/out are closed.

Currently, flights on the way to Houston are landing in Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta and other US airports causing widespread chaos when a major destination and connecting hub is shut down from one minute to another.
