With the 2017 Summer Universiade about to kick off on August 19th, 2017, Taipei City has been actively planning a series of events specially tailored for international tourists. From August 1st till August 31st, upon presenting your passport and air-flight boarding pass at designated city locations, all international visitors visiting Taipei will be eligible to receive a free complimentary ticket for a 4-hour ride on a Taipei Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus. The Taipei Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus service provides insightful tours around Taipei City, passing by countless fascinating sights. Note that only a limited amount of tickets are available – first come, first served!

Organized by Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism and cooperating airlines such as China Airlines, TigerAir, NokScoot, EVA Air, AirAsia, and Air Macau, all international tourists from around the world are warmly invited to join in the action. From August 1st till August 31st, international visitors may head to the Visitor Information Center at MRT Taipei Main Station, MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station, MRT Ximen Station, or MRT Songshan Airport Station. Upon presenting your passport and boarding pass you will receive one “Taipei Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus 4 Hours Ticket” (ticket usage from 9am to 10pm). There is only a limited quantity of 50,000 tickets available, so don’t tarry, and be sure to come while supplies last.

In addition to the aforementioned benefits for international tourists, Malaysian and Thai visitors will enjoy a bonus offer! Starting from August 1st, Malaysian and Thai visitors may head to the Visitor Information Center at MRT Taipei Main Station and, upon presenting your passport and boarding pass, you will receive one “Limited-Edition Illustrated EasyCard by Illustrator Deng-Yu” (with NT$100 in stored value). There is only a limited number of 888 cards available, to be distributed while supplies last.

The head of the Department of Information and Tourism, Commissioner Chien Yu-yen, has stated that during the past few years sports awareness amongst Taipei citizens has been rising steadily, and there has also been a recent upsurge in sport tourism around the world. With the Universiade around the corner, this is a great chance to introduce Taipei City to the rest of the world. Through the combination of Universiade and tourism, Taipei City is looking to present the warmth and vitality of the city to international tourists.

Of course, riding the Taipei Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus isn’t all there is to do in Taipei. A series of special events have been organized for August, including a sports-theme show, art & literature exhibitions, and international cultural-exchange events. Athletes and their friends and relatives are welcome to join in! In addition, Taipei City is also cooperating with travel agencies to provide foreign visitors with 25 splendid tours around Taipei and the rest of Taiwan
