Singapore, April 2010 – Kurt Otto Wehinger has been appointed as the General Manager of Marina Mandarin Singapore.

Singapore, April 2010 – Kurt Otto Wehinger has been appointed as the General Manager of Marina Mandarin Singapore. Mr Wehinger brings with him 25 years of international experience in the hospitality industry, including stints in regions such as Europe, Africa, the Middle East, United States, South East Asia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia.

Prior to joining Marina Mandarin Singapore, the Austrian national was the General Manager who opened the Grand Millennium Hotel in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. He was also the opening General Manager of the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre in 1992.

He has held the position of General Manager with Intercontinental Hotels Group and Kempinski Group; and the positions of Director and Managing Director respectively in The Mint Organization Sydney/Shanghai/Dubai, and The Raffles Club Hong Kong. He has also served in senior management positions in Sonesta Hotels in Cairo, The Ritz Taipei and Southern Sun Hotels in South Africa.

Notably, he is an active member of The American Entrepreneurs Association, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Les Toques Blanches International, The American Culinary Federation, The Californian Restaurant Association and The Australian Hoteliers Association, to name but a few.

Drawing from his past experiences, he is clear about establishing Marina Mandarin in its rightful place among the many other fine hotels in Singapore, “I
plan to position Marina Mandarin firmly among the top hotels in Singapore, by building upon its fine service and reputation, while at the same time, working to elevate the hotel to the next level of guest service excellence and profitability.”

A strong advocate of leading by example, he emphasizes the importance of creating a positive and rewarding work environment. He is very results-driven, hands-on in his approach to management, and passionate about guest satisfaction and staff welfare. “I believe in motivating the team and providing them every possible opportunity to help them reach their full potential. The resulting pride and commitment to their job in turn help us achieve our common goals.”

Work aside, he is an avid diver and enjoys kayaking. He also spends his time cooking, travelling, reading and spending time with his family.
