NEW YORK – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. plans to build a second St. Regis hotel in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, which is owned by private investment firm International Capital Trading, will have 281 guest rooms as well as restaurants, a health club, meeting and event space.
Roeland Vos, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa and Middle East, said in a statement that the property is part of the hotel and leisure company’s plan to bring all nine of its brands to the key areas of the Middle East.
Starwood, whose other brands include the W, Westin, Sheraton and Le Meridien, currently runs nearly 50 hotels throughout the region with more than 20 projects in development.
Earlier this month the company said it was on pace to boost the number of hotels it has in India by 60 percent by 2013.
