Air Seychelles contradicts trends in the region

VICTORIA, Seychelles (eTN) – The economic gloom hitting Indian Ocean airlines is being defied by Air Seychelles, the flag carrier of the Seychelles, as it steps up its international operations.

VICTORIA, Seychelles (eTN) – The economic gloom hitting Indian Ocean airlines is being defied by Air Seychelles, the flag carrier of the Seychelles, as it steps up its international operations.

The move is a stark contrast to the trends among other airlines in the Indian Ocean region.

Air Seychelles, which launched a new direct service to Moscow in December, will be re-introducing weekly services to Frankfurt and Zurich beginning April this year. These new services will be launched at the worldโ€™s largest travel tradeshow, ITB in Berlin, next month.

The airline has also confirmed that it will be taking delivery of an additional B767-200ER aircraft in a few weeks time.

Captain David Savy, the chairman of Air Seychelles, said that the confidence being displayed by Air Seychelles will give hope to operators who have a skeptical view of the region. “They will see that we mean business and that we are intent on bucking the trend,” said Capt Savy.

Air Seychellesโ€™ positive news comes at the same time when Seychelles is being launched as more affordable destination. This has been the new theme since the national airline and local trade have been rallying to offer better value for money and a once in a lifetime opportunity to customers who have always wished to visit these tropical island paradise, but shied away because of the perception that Seychelles was an โ€œunaffordableโ€ destination.
