The PATA Global Insights Conference (PGIC) returns to Auckland on Friday, 29 September 2017 with the theme ‘R U Future Ready’? The one-day event is supported once again by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) and takes place at the SKYCITY Grand Hotel.

The conference has already received confirmations from a number of keynote speakers and panel members from Europe, Asia Pacific and North America representing such major international brands as Microsoft, Boeing and Visa. “The conference program focusses very much upon the need for public and private sector tourism businesses and organisations to prepare for disruption and innovation on an unprecedented scale. I am confident that delegates will be impressed with the expertise and insights shared by our guest speakers,” said Chris Flynn, PATA Regional Director – Pacific.

Jason Hill, Head of Tourism at ATEED, is confident that the 2017 conference program will once again challenge traditional thinking in a number of key areas of travel, tourism and aviation. “This PATA conference has attracted keynote speakers from global brands. This is yet another fantastic opportunity for New Zealand’s tourism industry leaders to gain a wide appreciation and understanding of global issues and trends that will undoubtedly impact upon our industry in the months and years ahead,” he said.

The PGIC 2017 programme includes sessions on technology, artificial intelligence, cybercrime and destination brand building. The program also includes, for the first time, a presentation by a group of ‘tomorrow’s tourism leaders’ with students from Auckland University of Technology sharing their predictions on how tourism will look in 2025 and beyond.

Other major sponsors for PGIC 2017 include SKYCITY Entertainment Group and BBC World News. The panel sessions will again be moderated by a senior business TV anchor from BBC World News.
