New tourist attractions splash down in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax is the provincial capital of Nova Scotia and home to nearly a million people, steeped in history and culture it is the first port of call for most British holidaymakers arriving to the region by air. With world-class attractions, superb dining and a range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, it is a must-explore destination for anyone visiting Atlantic Canada.

The SPLASHDOME is a state of the art 4D cinema set on the Halifax Waterfront, one of the city’s most vibrant areas. The 50-foot geodesic dome is based just a few steps away from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and takes visitors on an adrenaline-charged 360° immersive experience called Bluenose: The Legend Lives. The 15 minute film, which is set to stirring music and includes live action special effects (expect to get wet!), showcases Nova Scotia’s magnificent coastline through the story of the provinces most famous seafaring vessel. Debuting in the autumn of 2016, the splashtastic attraction will return this summer to thrill Nova Scotian’s and holidaymakers alike.

The Discovery Centre has a brand new $20 million home on the Halifax Waterfront. Set over three floors, the attractions bring science, technology, engineering and the arts to life through fun learning experiences, exhibits and workshops. Suitable for all ages, the centre features and an interactive ‘innovation lab’ as well as a cutting-edge planetarium that takes visitors on a journey across the solar system and beyond using data from the Hubble Telescope. The ground floor is dedicated to travelling exhibits and is currently playing host to The Science of Rock n Roll; a fascinating hands-on experience exploring the science behind popular music.
