Airlines for America bolsters communications team

WASHINGTON, DC – Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading US airlines, strengthened its advocacy efforts with two additions to its communications team.

A4A named Kathy Grannis Allen, a veteran public affairs specialist, to the role of Managing Director, Airline Industry Public Relations and Communications. Allen joins A4A from the National Retail Federation (NRF), having most recently served as senior director, media relations, acting as a primary spokesperson for the associationโ€™s consumer and business interests and overseeing efforts to further strengthen NRFโ€™s visibility with high-profile broadcast, print and consumer-focused media. Prior to joining NRF in 2006, she was a member of the public relations and marketing teams at Stovell Marketing & Public Relations and American Warfare Associates. Allen received a Master’s degree in Public Relations Management from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coastal Carolina University and will report to Jean Medina, A4Aโ€™s senior vice president, communications.

As a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in leading consumer-focused media initiatives, Kathy is a great addition to a strong team,” said Medina.

A4A also added to its digital media team, naming Nicole Soufi to the role of Manager, Social Media.

Soufi joins A4A from Westat, where she served as a digital and social media associate. There, she developed and implemented digital and social media strategies for federal and private-sector clients, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Education and the Association of American Universities. Prior to joining Westat in 2012, she held roles with zcomm and Clean Channel Communications.

โ€œNicoleโ€™s expertise in strategic social media content development and digital influencer outreach will be vital to A4Aโ€™s efforts to reach influencers in the Washington area and nationwide,” said Medina.

Soufi received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and will report to Penny Kazokos, A4Aโ€™s Vice President, Communications.
