The Seychelles Tourism Board has launched the Seychelles Travel Guide Smartphone app, the official travel guide of the Seychelles islands. Officially launched by Minister for Tourism & Culture, Alain St. Ange, on Thursday, September 1, at a gathering at Eden Bleu Hotel attended by tourism stakeholders and partners, and high government officials, the app looks set to change the way visitors view the destination.
The guide provides a key to all the activities, attractions, accommodation, and tourism services of the archipelago and is a key component to navigating the various tourism products and services.
“This app is the result of the hard work of the e-marketing Department of the island’s Tourism Board (STB) who have contributed towards this extremely useful tool which is destined to revolutionize the way our visitors interact with everything the islands have to offer,” explained minister St. Ange.
The app, which is available as a free download from the Google Play Store for Android and IOS devices, can be used 100% offline with Internet only needed for the initial download.
The features of the Seychelles Travel Guide app include a directory of over 1,000 tourism-related services and detailed maps which are all available offline. An augmented reality feature enables users to search for listings in real time with built-in GPS navigation.
“This will be an invaluable addition to our arsenal of promotional tools,” stated Sherin Francis, CEO of the Tourism Board, “and visitors are sure to appreciate this new level of clever interaction with the destination.”
The Travel Guide is currently available in four languages with additional languages to be added soon and is fully integrated with Facebook and sharing options.
“This app also provides the opportunity to view the reviews and ratings of other travelers as well as to enter your own,” added Vahid Jacob, Manager of the e-marketing Department at the Seychelles Tourism Board.
The Seychelles Travel Guide is already proving popular with downloads recorded since the launch. The application has recorded 3,000 downloads since it was launched just a week ago.
