BRUSSELS, Belgium – On Thursday 1 September the press conference inaugurating the Brussels Comic Strip Festival took place. The Festival will open to the public at 3pm on Friday and will last until Sunday, 6pm. At the press conference the Raymond Leblanc Foundation handed out its prestigious Award to Debuhme for her project L’ours (The bear). Moreover, the guest of honor of this edition of the Brussels Comic Strip Festival, Quebec, unveiled its program and its authors.


The marquees have been prepared, the exhibitions have been set up, and everyone at the Comic Strip Festival is eagerly awaiting visitors. Tomorrow, on Friday at 3pm, a fast-paced sequence of comic-related events begins which will take place throughout Brussels until Sunday 4 September. • The Comic Strip Festival: The heart of the Brussels Comic Strip Festival will be under the big top in Parc de Bruxelles/Warandepark. After Taiwan and Turkey, it is the turn of the comic strip artists of Quebec organize an extensive thematic programme in the course of this annual and not-to-be-missed comic strip celebration.

• The “extras” of the Comic Strip Festival: The Comic Strip Festival is full of unique activities organized over an exceptional weekend which will allow anyone to discover comic strips in all their forms: free guided visits, special listening’s at Cinematek, comic-themed matches by the Ligue d’Improvisation belge professionnelle in the Marni Theater, and a mini train to cart lovers of the 9th Art around unmissable destinations in the city. The Brussels Comic Strip Festival has a lot to offer and will let anyone experience the world of comics over this colourful weekend!

• The Balloon’s Day Parade : The Brussels Comic Strip Festival is organizing the journal Tintin Rally for the third year in a row, on Sunday 4 September. In what has become an essential weekend tradition, the race of vintage vehicles will gather 50 collector cars.

– The 8th Balloons’ Day Parade will take place on Sunday 4 September along the main streets of Brussels. Composed of famous Belgian comic strip characters, the Balloons’ Day Parade will give kids young and old the opportunity to see these gigantic balloons.
