Push for number plate tourism

The State Opposition wants South Australian vehicles to become billboards featuring the Tourism SA web address.

The State Opposition wants South Australian vehicles to become billboards featuring the Tourism SA web address.

The Opposition’s tourism spokesman, David Pisoni, says the move would give South Australia a free kick in the increasingly competitive tourism market.

Mr Pisoni says the idea has been successful in the American state of Maryland.

“This will be a great tourism boost for South Australia where our own motor vehicles, whether they’re going interstate or whether on our roads here in South Australia are selling and spruiking for South Australia,” he said.

“This won’t cost the state a single cent and I believe the first state that takes this on will actually get a free kick around Australia because this will be a news item around Australia.”
