YEXIANGGU, China – An elephant from a nature reserve in southern China has been caught on camera strolling down a road and damaging more than a dozen vehicles, apparently after having her love interest rejected.

The elephant’s escapade was fueled by the failure of a courtship which left Zhusunya with an “erratic temperament”, staff at the Wild Elephant Valley scenic area told Xinhua news agency.

Tourists celebrating the Lunar New Year holiday welcomed the sight of the rejected elephant, and no-one was harmed.

“Even the owners of some damaged cars found the experience to be thrilling and very interesting, although their cars got scrapped,” the government said.

The owners of the 15 damaged cars will be compensated.
