CHENGDU, China – Marking its second anniversary celebration on 14 January 2016, Chengdu IFS, modeled on Harbor City in Hong Kong, launched the “All IN Here – World Fashion Tour” that unveils the city’s latest initiative to be part of the global fashion scene.

Organized by the Chengdu municipal government and Jinjiang district government as the key event of the 2015 Jinjiang Shopping Festival, the Tour is seen as a move to help spearhead Chengdu’s transformation into an “international shopping paradise” and a “world-class travel destination.”

With concerted efforts from the governments and chambers of Italy, France and Switzerland as well as the participation of international fashion magazine Elle, the event will connect Chengdu to the world while bringing the delights of fashion and shopping to the city.

Inaugurated in 2014, Chengdu IFS has become the city’s new landmark. Boasting architectural design, brand collections and operational management to an international standard, the first major world-class high-end mixed development in urban Chengdu brings together approximately 300 world-renowned brands, including 90 new to the consumers of Chengdu or Southwestern China.

The multi-level flagship stores of international brands now line Hongxing Road as part of the magnificent 530-m-long “International Fashion Walk”, which is the city’s answer to vibrant Harbour City on Canton Road, Hong Kong. An unprecedented fashionable sight to behold in Chengdu, it also marks an important sign in the upgrade of Chunxi Road’s core commercial area.

In July 2015, the municipal party committee and municipal government of Chengdu announced an action plan to build Chengdu into an international shopper’s paradise. As the city’s new landmark of world-class status, Chengdu IFS has responded enthusiastically to the call with the Tour to re-define the standard-setting role of Hongxing Road in the commercialisation and internationalisation of Chengdu. It also highlights Jinjiang District’s crucial position as Chengdu’s most prosperous CBD and a key element of the city’s development as a “New First-tier” city.

At 2:30 pm on 14 January, the grand “All IN Here – World Fashion Tour” was officially launched. Officiating at the launch ceremony were Mr. Wen Feng, Deputy Director of Chengdu Business Committee, Mr. Wu Wenhui, Deputy Head of Jinjiang District, Ms. Doreen Lee Yuk Fong, Vice Chairman of the Wharf (Holdings) Limited, and Ms. Christina Hau, General Manager (Operation) of Wharf China Estates Limited.

Strong support and warm congratulations were expressed by Mr. Sergio Maffettone, Consul-General of Italy in Chongqing, Mr. Olivier Vaysset, Consul-General of France in Chengdu, Mr. Alessandro Pollio Salimbeni, General Director of Creative Programmes, Tourism and Regional Marketing of Milan, Mr. Rolf Studer, General Manager of the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Ms. Chris Hu, Publisher of Elle China. A consensus was eventually reached among all parties involved to work together on developing the International Fashion Walk at Hongxing Road and transforming Chengdu into an international shopper’s paradise.

To celebrate the opening of International Fashion Walk and the second anniversary of Chengdu IFS, the World Fashion Tour has taken on the form of a grand carnival. Reflecting the unrivalled innovativeness of the themed activities, the event brings together fashion and art, tradition and modernity, and local and international styles. A series of fantastic performances will be presented, including a mid-air fashion show and a parade of orchestra musicians, to lead all Chengdu citizens on an exhilarating journey of world fashion.

At the “Glamour All IN Here VIP Gala Dinner” held at the Niccolo by Marco Polo, VIP members of Chengdu IFS and social celebrities were all present in their most splendid outfits to share the glamour of fashion and style. Ms. Carina Lau, a well-renowned artiste from Hong Kong, surprised the guests by donning her own creations under ANIRAC and presenting the brand’s first-ever catwalk show. Through ANIRAC, Ms. Lau hopes to share her beliefs and insights on style and life. The fashionable ambience of Chengdu and the international shopping environment at Chengdu IFS have provided the best platform for conveying her brand philosophy and fashion inspirations.

In two years’ time, Chengdu IFS has leapfrogged from “I AM HERE” in 2014 to “All IN Here” in 2016, with exceptional operating results achieved. Compared with 2014, the turnover and traffic flow of Chengdu IFS in 2015 have increased by 50%. The project has also attracted a strong base of loyal and active consumers with high purchasing power. In 2015, the number of VIP members grew 100% with sales up 50%.

As the first of five IFS projects in which Wharf (Holdings) has invested a total of RMB 46 billion, the success of Chengdu IFS has set a solid foundation for Chongqing IFS, scheduled to open in 2017 as a “boutique” version of Harbour City, and also Changsha IFS, the largest of all five. There is every reason to believe that other IFS projects will become the most fashionable, high-end and international landmarks at the most prosperous CBDs in the cities where they are located.

Being Chengdu’s new landmark and a fashion mecca, Chengdu IFS is committed to the reinvention of modern business models and a brand new lifestyle for consumers. With the exclusive outdoor art of panda sculptures, Chengdu IFS is proud of its role as the favourite hangout for youths and the benchmark for urban fashion. In furtherance of the corporate spirit of the Wharf Group, it will help Chengdu grow into a truly international shopper’s paradise, by sharing the strongest attitude on fashion, the most advanced global vision, and the most exclusive lifestyle offerings.
