David Scowsill, President & CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), said: “It is with deep regret that we hear that the world yet again is struck by an act of terrorism in Jakarta, causing the loss of innocent lives. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of all the victims of this brutal attack. Our thoughts are with them at this terrible time.

Terrorism is a global problem, and now Indonesia has become the target of this violence. Fortunately Indonesia is an extraordinarily resilient country, as it has faced up to and overcome various incidents over the last 15 years. We are confident that the country will show its resilience once again.

The best response to these terrorist attacks is for travellers to support the country and to continue to visit this beautiful destination. We encourage the government to continue to put the appropriate security measures in place.”
