Alessio Vinci has been named as the new Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications at Alitalia airline with immediate effect. He will report directly to President and Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, and he will respond to the media relations entrusted to Clemente Senni, regarding internal communication, national and international public relations, corporate social responsibility, and the management of corporate events. He will also serve as the Managing Editor of the Alitalia inflight magazine “Ulysses.”
Alessio, 48, worked at Mediaset TV for more than four years where he held television roles including the Matrix, the news program of Channel 5.
He previously worked for 18 years at CNN, as head of the Rome office. He followed the second Gulf War in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, and the events at Ground Zero in New York after the terrorist attacks of September 11. Vinci was also responsible for the CNN office in Belgrade for two years during the Balkan War and worked as a correspondent in the whole of Europe.
Before joining Alitalia, he worked in corporate communications at Banca Sistema in Milan, and was formerly a member of the team that launched Agon TV in Albania.
Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said: “We will have a lot of interesting news to be conveyed in the coming weeks and months to Alitalia people and to the public, both in Italy and abroad, and the skills of the long course of Alessio, aged in an international context, qualify him as the best candidate for this very important role in Alitalia.”
Alessio is married, has two children, and among his interests are football, horse riding, and cooking
