A win at Miss World is a boost for Gibraltar tourism

Gibraltar tourism got its biggest boost since the rock formed. Miss Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino, beat out favorite Miss Puerto Rico to become Miss World 2009, letting guys everywhere know that hot girls live in Gibraltar too.

The win at the pageant in Johannesburg is a really a win for Britain because even though Gibraltar shares a border with Spain, its actually a British territory, making Aldorino a British national. In true beauty pageant fashion, the 22-year-old woman said she had “no words” to describe her win but added she was “really happy.” We’d be happy too if we lived in a place where the major four-way intersection involved both cars and arriving aircraft.

Gibraltar is not only inhabited by hot ladies, but it’s also the only place in the Mediterranean where English is the official language, where you can get a Full English Fry-up for breakfast and where the grocery store shelves are lines with English favorites like Digestive biscuits and Nestle Aeros. Of course, the rock is still the real attraction since it is the only place on earth where you can see two continents (Europe and Africa), and there’s a bunch of cute monkeys hanging around too, unique to the rock.
