A United Airlines aircraft, flight UA 1977 landing in Chicago O’Hare airport at 7.40 am on Wednesday on a flight from Seattle skidded off a runway. No injuries were reported. Snow was falling at the time of the accident, but it was not immediately clear if weather was a factor.

A United Airlines spokesman said one or two tires of the flight from Seattle were stuck after landing. The airline planned to taxi the plane to a gate so passengers could get off.

A passenger onboard tweeted: @almacponce this is what is happening right now. Runway is to icy to move the plane.
