MACAO – The St Regis Macao, Cotai Central, the newest addition to the Sands China Ltd portfolio of properties on the Cotai Strip in Macao , opened its doors for the first time Friday with a grand open

MACAO – The St Regis Macao, Cotai Central, the newest addition to the Sands China Ltd portfolio of properties on the Cotai Strip in Macao , opened its doors for the first time Friday with a grand opening celebration. The opening of the 38-story luxury hotel also marks the completion of the company’s Sands Cotai Central integrated resort. The complex already operates rooms under the Conrad, Sheraton and Holiday Inn flags. With the addition of The St. Regis Macao, Sands Cotai Central now features more than 6,200 hotel rooms and suites along with a wide variety of retail, restaurant and entertainment offerings.

“Whether it’s hotel, restaurant, retail or other amenities or attractions, our developments on the Cotai Strip have become home to many of the world’s most-renowned and important brand names,” said Mr. Sheldon G. Adelson , chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands China Ltd. “The opening of The St. Regis Macao is another significant step in Macao being able to differentiate itself from other destinations and further enhances Macao’s ability to draw even more leisure tourists and business travellers from throughout the region and across the globe. As we have from the outset, we will continue to invest in Macao’s tourism future, which next year includes the opening of The Parisian Macao. The property complete with a stunning replica Eiffel Tower is destined to become Asia’s new ‘must – see’ property.”

Friday’s grand opening included a press conference featuring a panel discussion and Q&A session with Mr. Adelson, Dr. Wong, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific Region President Mr. Stephen Ho . The press conference was moderated by Mr. Ron Reese , senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs for Las Vegas Sands Corp.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was officiated by Mr. Chui Sai On, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region; Mr. Edmund Ho Hau Wah , vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Chen Sixi , deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Pan Yun Dong , deputy commissioner for the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the Macao SAR; Mr. Leong Vai Tac, Macao SAR secretary for economy and finance; Dr. Alexis Tam , Macao SAR secretary for social affairs and culture; Mr. Adelson; Dr. Miriam Adelson ; Dr. Wong; Mr. Stephen Ho ; and Mr. Josef Dolp , vice president of operations for Hong Kong , Taiwan , Macau and Korea, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
A traditional lion dance followed, and the day’s festivities concluded with a gala dinner featuring performances by Hong Kong celebrity Hacken Lee and English jazz-pop singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum.
