BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand plans to promote a few more clusters of tourism in varied regions of the country, said Tourism & Sports Minister Kobkarn Watanawarangkura on Saturday.

She said her ministry is yet to seek an approval from the cabinet for the planned launching of three new tourist clusters in addition to five existing clusters.

Those new clusters which the authorities plan to promote later this year include one in the lower part of northern Thailand, another one in the Chao Praya River basin in the central region and one other along the Mekong River which straddles Thai and Lao borders.

Kobkarn added that an approximate 28.8 million tourists are expected to visit Thailand from all corners of the globe and generate some 41.6 billion U.S. dollars in tourism-related earnings throughout this year.
