ORLANDO, Florida – Skal International Orlando and its board of directors recently presented a check for $5,000 to Cynthia C. and William E. Perry of the Perry Pavilion at Dr. Phillips Hospital, as proceeds from its 5th Annual Skal Cares Golf Tournament held at Falcon’s Fire Golf Course. This latest donation brings the year to date contributions total to $38,000 in assisting the Perry Pavilion. The Skal Cares Golf Tournament tradition began five years ago under the leadership of Skal Orlando Member and Past President Barbara Kenney, who chairs the event every year.

The Perry Pavilion, part of Orlando Health, serves the needs of hundreds of families each year by providing comfortable, accessible overnight lodging while their loved ones are receiving medical care. The two-story hospital pavilion features private guest rooms, a family gathering room, community resource center, laundry facilities and children’s play area, and can accommodate up to 10 families a night.

In addition to having its own guest room plaque at The Perry Pavilion, Skal International Orlando is also featured on a Benefactors Circle Plaque at the entrance of Dr. Phillips Hospital, joining other prominent travel and tourism industry organizations in the community (such as Visit Orlando and the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association) that support this worthy cause.

“Your continuous support helps the health and well-being of the entire family. You actually help alleviate fear because the patient always asks what is going to happen to my family,” explained William Perry. “Your generous donations go towards our ongoing improvements to serve more and more families in the best way we can.”

Skal International, the only international organization bringing together sectors of the travel and tourism industry while networking, conducting business and helping communities locally, nationally and internationally, was founded in Paris, France in 1932 by travel trade managers. From that modest beginning, Skal members now number more than 18,000 in over 450 clubs spread throughout 87 countries.

Skal International Orlando is among the Top 10 Skal Clubs in the world and was voted Skal International Club of the Year 2006-2007 and North American Club of the Year in 2007.
