Not in my name! Don’t call terrorists Islamists
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community calls on all Muslims to "out" extremists as the enemy of Islam and a threat to humanity.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community calls on all Muslims to “out” extremists as the enemy of Islam and a threat to humanity.
Echoing the plea of the NotInMyName social media campaign, Ahmadi Muslims say terms such as “Islamist” are a complete nonsense.
“Terrorists are not in any way, shape or form a part of Islam – they are the very antithesis of the value of the faith – indeed of any faith.
“We are dealing with a terror mentality and mixing that up with a worldwide faith is abhorrent.
“Extremists do not act or speak for Islam any more than white supremacists speak for white people or a rapist speaks for men. The evil that they do stems from their own warped view of the world and it behoves us all to stand united against a common threat.
“On a day when Shia Muslims have been massacred in Kuwait, when tourists and Tunisians have been murdered in Tunisia and a man has been decapitated in France we must recognise the fact that hatred does not discriminate, nor can it masquerade as a faith.
“To call terrorists ‘Islamist’ means we concede to their warped view- let them be known as terrorists, because that is all they are. Do not dignify them with any faith as they are the enemies of faith and a threat to humanity.”
