A moderate earthquake hit close to the largest city in the U.S. State Alaska. The e[ic center was in Willow.

The arthquake has struck some 125 km north-west of Anchorage. Initially reported as magnitude 5.6, it was upgraded to 6.2 before USGS reviewed it as 5.8. It was felt as far away as Fairbanks according to eTN readers.

The quake struck after 2:30 pm and was initially reported as having a magnitude of 5.6, but it was eventually updated to magnitude 5.8.

The quake was on the eastern slopes of the Alaska Range and was deep, about 64 miles underground, according to the US Geological Survey.

No major injuries or damages is expected.
