LOS ANGELES, CA – Beverly Hills, the upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles County, is the most expensive destination in California based on the cost of its lodging. That discovery is according to the latest survey from TravelMag.com, which compared the hotel rates of various destinations in the Golden State during the summer 2015 time period.

Specifically, the survey stacked up each destination by establishing the amount a summer guest will have to spend to stay overnight in the most affordable double room. It must be pointed out, however, that only those establishments with at least a 3-star rating and only those with a prime location near either the city center or beach were taken into consideration by the survey.

With an average price tag of $239 per night for its least expensive room over the summer travel months, Beverly Hills takes the number one ranking. Only marginally cheaper is Santa Monica, the third-place finisher, at an average nightly rate of $234.

Two more destinations inside the county of Los Angeles made it into the Top 20. Catalina Island ranks seventh most expensive with an average overnight rate of $204 for the most affordable double room. A bit more on the affordable side is Long Beach, the 19th most expensive locale in California, averaging $143 per night.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in California based on the average rate for their cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) during the time period spanning June 1 through August 31, 2015.
