Yemen tourism goes on the road in Europe


The National Dance Academy of Yemen will be performing on Paddington Station throughout the day on Sunday, October 18, supported by a “Henna Lady” and lots of information from the Yemen Tourism Promotion Board (YTPB) about this land of mystery and adventure. Yemeni gifts and prizes will be on offer all day to the 70,000 travelers passing the exhibition area beside the Heathrow Express.

The following day, the YTPB will be hosting an evening of discovery on Monday October 19 at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel in London. In addition to presentations and a Q&A session with experts on this extraordinary destination, there will be more traditional Yemeni dancing, an important exhibition by leading Yemeni photographers, and prizes on the night, followed by supper. The expert panel will include Captain Abdulkhalek Al-Kadi, chairman of Yemenia Airlines and Marc Leaderman, head of operations at Wild Frontiers Adventure Travel. The event is open to journalists, travel and tourism professionals, and others with an interest in this land of mystery and adventure.

YTPB’s UK team will be on hand to discuss study tour and press trip options for tour operators, travel agents, and journalists. Three weeks later, Yemen’s strongest ever delegation will arrive at World Travel Market in London on Monday, November 9 for four days of events and meetings with the world’s leading tour operators and journalists.

Yemen Tourism Promotion Board is an executive agency of Yemen’s Ministry of Tourism and in 2008 appointed Dunira Strategy as its first representative in the UK and Ireland; YTPB also has European representatives in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. In 2008, Yemen received 404,497 visitors, including 9,000 British visitors; its main European markets are the UK, Germany, France, and Italy.
