Seychellois owning small hotel establishments are grabbing the industry

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture is more than ever persuaded that Seychellois owning small hotel establishments understood the essence of working to claim back the Seychelles tourism industry.
During the Ministryโ€™s continued door to door visit at small hotel establishments to remain connected with players of the industry, Alain St.Ange the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Anne Lafortune principal secretary for tourism and Sherin Naiken the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board were pleased to witness owners of licensed small establishments at La Louise Lodge, Papaya Self Catering, Tropical Garden Self Catering, Bay View Villa and Oceanside self-catering are keeping a firm footing in the tourism industry.

Minister St.Ange said he is proud of the small Seychellois owned hotels and of their achievements. “Through their involvement and through their ongoing successes there is no doubt that the message echoed by the Ministry for Seychellois to claim back the tourism industry has been heard, and that this appeal is slowly but surely being taken on board by Seychellois entrepreneurs,” said Minister St.Ange.
All small hotels visited on Tuesday, June 2, by Minister St.Ange and his team have a Seychellois at its helm.

“The workforce at these small hotel establishments is mostly made up Seychellois, the warmth of Seychellois culture is also omnipresent and they are eager to see tourism developed with them also in mind,” said the Minister.

These observations blend well in the vision of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture that Seychellois must be encouraged to join the industry and help the country to protect and decent their industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy.

โ€œToday it is pleasing to see more Seychellois are grabbing hold of their industry,โ€ said Minister St.Ange.
He added that in the presence of the press accompanying the Minister’s delegation on this door-to-door hotel visit these small hotels visited have echoed positive sentiments about the hotel classification program.

โ€œIt is encouraging to see how satisfied these small hotel owners felt about the country moving to relook at the island’s products in order to increase the yield earned by Seychelles from its tourism industry. They are saying that the status quo has not worked and that a new approach needs to be developed for the consolidation of the island’s tourism industry.โ€

Minister St Angeโ€™s second phase of his door-to-door visit to hotel establishments on Mahe concentrated on the western part of Mahe.
