United Airlines joins the ranks of other major US carriers in charging a fee for a second checked bag for international flights.

United says the fee will apply to economy passengers flying to Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The airline will charge $50 dollars for second bags on flights to Europe and $30 for additional bags checked on flights to the Caribbean and Mexico.

The fee is a little less if customers pay the second bag fee through United’s Web site.
