Preparations for the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria set for April 24-26 is well underway, the Seychelles Tourism Board has announced.

Preparations for the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria set for April 24-26 is well underway, the Seychelles Tourism Board has announced.

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Naiken, met members of the local press this morning to give an update on how preparations for this fifth carnival is going and to give them an overview of the new elements added this year.

Present for the press conference were some of the sponsors who have come on board to make this yearโ€™s carnival a total success.

Miss Naiken has expressed words of thanks to the sponsors for making this event dubbed as the carnival of carnivals become a reality.

Among the top sponsors of this fifth carnival are local telecommunication company Airtel, Eden Island Development Company, and Air Seychelles/Etihad Airways.

Speaking during the press conference, Air Seychelles/Etihad Airways representative, Sabrina Agathine, said it is the second year that the airline has partnered with the Seychelles Tourism Board for the carnival.

She added that it is a pleasure for the airline company to be associated with the development of tourism in Seychelles.

Air Seychelles and Etihad Airways have renewed their sponsorship towards the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria.

The Managing Director of Airtel, Amadou Dina, said that the telecommunications company is glad to be part of this big event.

He added that Airtel and the Seychelles Tourism Board share a good partnership which should keep being nurtured.

Mr. Dina said Airtel is ready for the carnival in terms of the telecommunications solutions and offers to be provided, and SIM cards which will be made available.

Miss Naiken announced that 29 countries have confirmed their presence in this yearโ€™s carnival. A total of 20 countries will be taking part in the parade on April 25, while the remaining 9 will simply be representing their countries.

Locally, a total of 20 organizations have confirmed that they will be parading in the streets of Victoria alongside the many international delegations.

As customary each year, the Seychellesโ€™ carnival will be given good visibility through the presence of the bank of international press houses that will be in the country to cover the three-day carnival fiesta.

Tanmi Production company, headed by Joseph Sinon, will this year be boosting up the entertainment to spice up the celebrations for this fifth anniversary.

Mr. Sinon said this year, more local artists will be given the chance to take part in the entertainment in town.

For the official opening ceremony, new elements will be added to make it more spectacular.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) .
