A 27-year old American tourist was rescued Thursday after being stuck in a pit in the northern West Bank for two days.

The man was found Thursday by an Israel Defense Forces patrol, who called the Samaria rescue unit and Ariel firefighters to the scene.

He fell into the seven-meter-deep pit at Mount Gerizim, near Nablus, on Tuesday and apparently failed to call for help because there was no mobile phone reception in the area.

He was in the pit for two days without any food or water.
