SVALBARD, Norway – A group of tourists from Czech Republic was attacked by a polar bear in Norwegian Svalbard. One man was taken to hospital with injuries, while the bear was shot to death.
According to TV2โs report, the attack happened at Fredheim in Svalbard. The area is a popular destination for tourists.
Inspector Vidar Arnesen told TV2 that it was a tour group of six Czech tourists and they were attacked by a bear in the morning. One man suffered injuries on his face and an arm.
The other tour mates shot the bear and alerted the authorities.
The group was on the ski and snowmobile tour on Svalbard and stayed overnight in tents.
