BA named Best Airline at WTA2007


(TVLW) – The World Traveller Awards (WTA) this year named British Airways as the World’s Leading Airline at the Global ceremony which took place earlier in the month.

Hosted this year in the Caribbean, the 14th instalment of the awards drew some 160,000 trade professionals from 190 countries to vote for their preferred travel trade names in 60 categories.

“As a British airline, we are honoured to have achieved this global accolade, and will continue to offer the upgraded service that people expect from us,” said Robert Boyle, BA Commercial Director.

“We are overwhelmingly grateful to our staff in accepting this award, all of whom deserve our thanks for continuing to make British Airways the Worlds Leading Airline,” he said.

The Awards this year attracted over 320 delegates including those from the travel trade, VIPs as well as local and international media. Attendees came from all around the world, with 30 countries represented on the night.

Other awards given out on the night included Singapore Changi as World’s Leading Airport, The Pyramids in Egypt as World’s Leading Attraction, Carnival Cruises as World’s Leading Cruise Line, and Abu Dhabi as World’s Leading New Destination.
