Boko Haram, a terrorist Islamist movement based in northeast Nigeria, are the suspects of a kidnapping of 20 people traveling on a bus in northern Cameroon. Twelve were executed.

A security source in the region, whose wife was on the bus, said the terrorists stormed the bus on Sunday, February 8, 2015, slaying a dozen of the travelers, some of which may have been tourists. The remaining 8 people have since been released. This was also confirmed by a source from a local non-governmental organization. Both sources did not want to be named.

Like most African countries, Cameroon remains relatively unknown to the general public. Many travelers are unaware of the features of many of the tourist continental destinations. The capital of Yaounde as well as the next largest city of Douala, have modern and prestigious infrastructures, such as conference centers, international airports, and hotels.

The bus was traveling from the town of Koza to the town of Mora, near the Nigerian border.
